One of the 34 Bengal cats seized from a local breeder last June is still up for adoption, and is in the running for the BC SPCA’s calendar contest.

Delphira was living in crammed, dirty cages surrounded by overflowing litter boxes before she and the others were seized.

“I’ve been safe with the BC SPCA for a while now, but my previous home wasn’t so good,” Delphira said in her contest entry. “The kind people at the animal centre said something about irresponsible breeding, I think. It was a relief to arrive here.”

Many of the cats arrived with all sorts of medical issues, including Delphira who is currently recovering from surgery after cysts were removed from her mammary glands.

The other 33 Bengals have been adopted but Delphira is still dreaming of her forever home more than 260 days later.

“I can’t even imagine what life would look like if the Animal Protection Officers didn’t turn up that day. Bit by bit my caregivers at the animal centre have shown me that there are kind and gentle folks in the world.”

Along with a home, Delphira needs votes to get her featured in the calendar. Voting is on until 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21 at gogophotocontest.com.

“Your kind donation can help me and other animals in care to heal and find new loving families. And if I get enough votes, I’ll even get a special feature in the BC SPCA calendar!”

I feel like there’s no better way to celebrate the end of my long journey in care. Your kind votes are like a warm hug saying, “I’m rooting for you to find happiness.” Thank you so much!
