A blown tire led to a crash in Peachland, sending one vehicle into Okanagan Lake.

Around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11, the West Kelowna RCMP attended the scene where a black Dodge truck travelling westbound on Highway 97 blew a tire, causing the driver to lose control and hit a GMC Yukon in the oncoming lane.

The truck struck the vehicle but continued to move off the highway, landing upright in Okanagan Lake. The driver was able to break the window and get himself out of the truck. They then waited for emergency services to arrive.

“This collision could have resulted in multiple injuries or even death, but fortunately no one was injured,” says Kelowna RCMP media relation officer Const. Mike Della-Paolera.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage is to contact the West Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-2880 with the file number 2023-61004.
