A new group has launched in the Central Okanagan to support those who are pregnant or experienced infant loss.

Okanagan Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support is ready to offer help to those who need it with a focus on mental health.

"Research and conversations with healthcare professionals reveal a significant gap in mental health support for those affected by pregnancy and infant loss," said Krystal Brown, Chair of OPILS. "Our mission is to bridge this gap by investing in individual counselling and Pregnancy and Infant Loss (PAIL) training for counsellors."

OPILS will rely on donations from the community to help fund counselling and training sessions.

A fundraising event to support the new initiative is being hosted at the Kelowna Flower Farm on June 23. Connected Hearts Healing Yoga is an hour long class aiming to help participants reconnect with their body.

Learn more about the new support or register for the yoga event at opil.ca.
