A thunderstorm watch has been issued for the South, Central and North Okanagan.

According to Environment Canada, conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may produce strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.

“Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall,” explained Environment Canada.

It’s noted large hail can damage property and cause injury as well lightning kills and injures Canadians every year.
