Let it snow.

Environment Canada has snowfall warnings in place for five Okanagan highways on Tuesday, Jan. 16. The five highways are:

  • Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt;
  • Coquihalla Highway from Merritt to Kamloops;
  • Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton;
  • Okanagan Connector from Merritt to West Kelowna;
  • Trans-Canada Highway from Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass.

Starting Tuesday night and into Wednesday, Highway 3 is expecting 10-20 centimetres of snow while the other four stretches of highway are expecting 15-20 cm. Precipitation will become heavy on Wednesday morning and slow down in the afternoon.

“A cold front will combine with a Pacific low pressure system and bring snow, heavy at times into southern B.C.,” said Environment Canada, who also reminds drivers that weather in the mountains can change suddenly and that visibility might be reduced in some areas.
