A woman who may have been unconcious behind the wheel of a car emerged from her vehicle with a cat strapped to her after police arrived on scene, Monday morning.

The incident blocked two southbound lanes of Cooper Road between Harvey Avenue and Springfield Road for an hour, starting at about 11 a.m.

According to a witness, when paramedics arrived on scene, the driver was awake but refused to get out of the vehicle and shut the door on the emergency crews.

One northbound lane of Cooper was also blocked.

Emergency crews placed blocks on the wheels of the car to stop it from moving.

Police arrived on scene about 20 minutes after the first initial report of a woman unconscious at the wheel of a vehicle.

The woman finally got out of her car with what appeared to be a cat strapped to her. Officers were seen searching the car, with front end damage, while it was parked on Cooper.

Traffic was heavily backed up in the area while emergency crews are on scene. The car had to be towed from the scene.
