Hockey fans who like lots of scoring would’ve loved the Kelowna Rockets game on Thanksgiving Monday, despite the result.

In an afternoon affair on Oct. 9, the Rockets fell to the Victoria Royals 9-7.

Rockets superstar Andrew Cristall collected his fourth career five-point game as he scored twice and added three assists in the loss. Of his four career five-point games, three of them have come on the ninth of a month.

Tij Iginla also scored twice and had an assist. Forward Dylan Wightman scored twice while Michael Cicek collected two assists.

Goaltender Nathan Kim made his WHL debut, making 16 saves on 19 shots.

Before Monday’s loss, the Rockets collected a win on Saturday night when they beat Spokane 6-3.

Over the two weekend games, Cristall and Iginla collected seven points each, including Iginla’s hat-trick on Saturday night. Cristall now has 11 points in five games this season while Iginla has 10 in six games.

The Rockets currently sit second in the B.C. Division and sixth in the Western Conference with a 2-3-1 record to begin the season.

They continue their five-game homestand on Friday, Oct. 13 when they welcome the first-place Prince George Cougars to Prospera Place. Puck drop is at 7:05 p.m.
